July 2009
30th July 2009 – Munich, Germany
At the end of July there was an evening event held in Munich for alumni who had both studied as undergraduates or masters students at the University of Glamorgan. This was a joint event with the Munich University of Applied Sciences, and academics from both institutions attended – including Richard Tunstall and Ramdane Djebarni, both senior lecturers at Glamorgan Business School. The event included a meal at a great restaurant owned by the parents of one alumnus, and some continued on to a nightclub into the small hours! During the evening, opportunities were explored for a video link-up between German alumni and current undergraduates at the Glamorgan Business School, using the alumni’s knowledge to look at a range of business problems.
February and March 2009
27th March 2009 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Coinciding with their visit to Malaysia, Malcolm Taylor, Head of International Recruitment, and Vassilis Konstantinou, Dean of Faculty of Advanced Technology, welcomed 32 alumni from across the decades to an evening full of stories and memories.

10th February 2009: Shanghai, Mainland China
23rd March 2009: Beijing, Mainland China
Juliet Davies, International Recruitment Officer, hosted alumni events in Shanghai and Beijing.
Juliet was joined by 19 alumni in Shanghai and 14 alumni in Beijing who appreciated the opportunity to meet up with old friends from Glamorgan. Thank you to those who participated!

Coinciding with their visit to Nigeria, Peter Crofts (Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment), Bobby Mehta (Deputy Head of International Recruitment) and Natalie Hughes (International Officer) hosted alumni dinners in Abuja and Lagos. Our representatives were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our Nigeria-based alumni, who appreciated the opportunity to be back in touch with old friends and Glamorgan. Thank you to those who participated, we hope to see you at the next one!
May 2008
31st May 2008: Porto, Portugal
Dr Akram Hammoudeh and Dr Terry Kell welcomed 12 Portuguese alumni to the first ever alumni event in Portugal. This was a very pleasant evening where graduates from 1985 through to 2007 met new faces and renewed old acquaintances, and reminisced about past times at Glamorgan. Thank you to those who attended, we hope you can make it to the next one!
27th May 2008: Hilton Nicosia, Cyprus
On 27th May, an alumni event co-hosted by the University of Glamorgan and the Cypriot Alumni Association celebrated the long-standing and successful relationship the University has with its Cypriot graduates. Professor Demetrios Djialli, Director of CEREA and Head of Knowledge Transfer, and Dr Soteris Kalogirou, President of the Cypriot Alumni Association, welcomed over 70 graduates and friends to a very pleasant journey down memory lane. All those who attended were happy to be back in touch with the University and appreciated the opportunity to catch up with old friends, as well as to make new ones. Thank you to all the alumni who contributed to a fantastic evening!
18th May 2008: Holiday Inn Lusaka, Zambia
Bobby Mehta, Deputy Head of International Recruitment, hosted the first ever alumni dinner in Zambia. The event attracted 7 alumni and provided a good opportunity for networking. A huge thank you goes to our alumni who attended the event and we hope to host more events of this kind in the future.
March and April 2008
5th April 2008: Shanghai, China
22nd March: Beijing, China
Coinciding with Dr. Liang Jiang’s visit to China, alumni dinners were held in Beijing and in Shanghai allowing alumni the chance to share their memories of Glamorgan with fellow graduates. Over 30 alumni attended the dinners and all expressed their appreciation for the very pleasant opportunity to catch up with old friends. We would like to thank all our alumni who attended the event and hope to see you at the next one!
March 2008
17th March 2008: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
On March 17th 2008, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Halton, and the Head of International Recruitment, Malcolm Taylor, hosted an alumni event in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen the relationship between the University and its Malaysian alumni. This event provided alumni with an excellent platform and great atmosphere for networking as well as reminiscing about their time at Glamorgan. We would like to thank all our alumni who attended the event and hope to see you at the next one!
March 2008: Toronto and Vancouver
In March 2008, alumni dinners were held in Toronto and in Vancouver in conjunction with Swansea University – the first ever to be held in Canada. Bobby Mehta has thoroughly enjoyed meeting with our Canadian alumni, and we now look forward to building on this experience in the future.
January 2008
28th January 2008: Hong Kong
On 28th January 2008, an alumni event was held in Hong Kong, bringing together graduates from across the decades. 12 graduates joined Malcolm Taylor in the Central district to meet and discuss their experiences at Glamorgan. The earliest graduate achieved his degree in 1992, while the most recent graduate completed his studies in summer 2007. This event, which was the first held in Hong Kong in recent times, will be the start of renewed, regular contact between the institution and its Hong Kong-based alumni.
